Everglades National Park

A vast wetland in Florida, known for its unique ecosystem with mangroves, alligators, and diverse wildlife, protected as a national park.

Tips from the community

The Everglades National Park is to Florida what Yosemite is to California. A real chart-topper, it spreads its great grass rivers and hardwood hammocks through a whopping 1.5 million acres at the southern end of the Sunshine State. Airboats are the main MO of visiting. They’ll whiz you on high-octane tours through prairies and waterlogged swamps. Keep your eyes peeled for snapping alligators, marsh rabbits and monitor lizards as you go!

Mangroves and marshes kind of sounds like a cool band name, but we’ll leave ‘em to Florida’s Everglades National Park until further notice. This subtropical splendor looks like it could be a part of the Amazon, with lush vegetation sprawling across plentiful waterways. Alligators and crocodiles coexist in these massive wetlands, along with tons of other species both above and below water. It’s as Florida as can be.

Crocs, gators, sea turtles, eagles, and peacocks are just some of the creatures you might be able to spot on a family safari through the Everglades. And that’s not even mentioning the adrenaline-pumping airboat tours of the sawgrass swamps. Oh yea, and Orlando is just up the road with Disney World for when nature is done and dusted!
